Encouraging Positive Behavior:As in any other part of the world, students need discipline and clear rules to follow. During this week I did not observed many situations related to misbehavior. Most of the students worked very well; however, there was a student with a medical situation that makes him to walk and move most than the rest of the students;moreover, another student had some difficulties to follow instructions and wanted to be on the floor playing. These 2 special situations are very similar to those I have to face in my school.
The teacher uses positive gestures and words to reward her students; besides. she lets her students to have lunch with her, play their favorite game,or help in the classroom.
When teachers recognize a positive behavior, students are willing to do it better next time because they know that their effort will be reward. This kind of strategy is very useful to maintain order in the classroom. There was not a specific amount of time to address good behavior, the teacher used the necessary time to correct and reward.
I have to change many things because I observed the teacher using a low tone of voice, be respectful and patient in each correction. I need to reward my students more frequently and establish the rules of the class in a creative way.
I did not see much misbehaving when I visited the schools either. Nor did I see Ts getting angry or raising their voices. This is very smart on their part. I suppose a lot of misbehaving is done just to get a reaction out of the T. Many of these Ts must be parents as well and I am guessing that their parenting skills carny over into the classroom.
